🍽️ Fast Food vs. Slow Food: The pleasure of returning to authenticity

We live in an era where everything moves so fast that even eating has become a race. 🍟 Fast food is the daily solution for millions… but what are we sacrificing?

At La Boutique de God , we believe that eating well is an art. That's why today we're telling you about the origins of the Slow Food movement, how modern fast food was born, and why returning to artisanal methods will transform the way you see food.

⏳ The birth of Fast Food: from Rome to McDonald's

Did you know that fast food was sold in Ancient Rome? 🍞 Although it wasn't a hamburger, you could buy bread with cheese or garum (a fermented fish sauce) on the go.

But modern fast food was born in 1940 in California, when brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened a revolutionary restaurant: fast service, a limited menu, and maximum efficiency. It was the beginning of a new era.

First McDonald's

🌍 With globalization, this model conquered the world. Today, there are fast food chains in more than 100 countries, serving hundreds of millions of people every day .

📌 Fun fact: In 1990, when McDonald's opened its first branch in Moscow, more than 30,000 people queued for hours to try a hamburger. It was a symbol of a changing era.

🐢 The birth of Slow Food: the revolution of flavors

In 1986, in response to the rise of fast food, Italian sociologist Carlo Petrini led a protest against the construction of a McDonald's in Rome's Piazza di Spagna . This event gave birth to the Slow Food movement.

🥖 Their mission? To defend well-made food, respect for traditional recipes, quality ingredients, and local producers. More than a protest, it was the beginning of a philosophy that prioritizes pleasure, identity, and sustainability.

📌 Fun fact: Today, the Slow Food movement is present in more than 160 countries and even has its own University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy.

🍷 Why choose Slow Food in your everyday life?

Adopting Slow Food doesn't mean cooking for hours every day. It means making better choices, respecting what you eat, and reconnecting with the pleasure of eating. Here are four good reasons why:

  • Better quality ingredients: Fewer chemicals, more flavor. Using natural products without additives makes a real difference.
  • Less environmental impact: Reduced use of plastics, industrial processes and unnecessary transport.
  • Support local producers: Betting on artisanal products means taking care of the local economy and preserving diversity.
  • Greater sensory enjoyment: By eating without rushing, you discover nuances that previously went unnoticed.
