The Coffee Journey: From the Mountains of Ethiopia to Your Gourmet Tab – La Boutique Di God

A journey through the historical milestones that made coffee a universal symbol of refinement.

Coffee's journey began in the green mountains of Ethiopia over a thousand years ago. According to legend, a shepherd named Kaldi discovered the stimulating effects of the red berries when his goats, after consuming them, began to jump around with energy. This discovery led monks at a nearby monastery to prepare infusions with the berries, which helped them stay awake during long night prayers.

Coffee crossed the Red Sea and arrived in the Arabian Peninsula around the 15th century. In Yemen, Sufis adopted it as part of their religious rituals, using it to stay alert during their meditations. It was in this region that cultivation and roasting techniques were perfected, marking the beginning of coffee as we know it today.

Around the 17th century, coffee reached Europe, initially in Venice via Ottoman traders. It quickly became the drink of choice for the aristocracy and intellectuals. Coffee houses such as the Café Florian, opened in 1720 in Venice, became meeting points for figures such as Casanova and Goldoni, establishing coffee as a symbol of sophistication and creativity.

Today, every cup of coffee we enjoy is the result of centuries of history, uniting ancient traditions with modern innovation. At God Save The Coffee, we celebrate this journey with a selection of the most exclusive coffees, because we believe that every cup tells a unique story.
